Piezoelectric actuator characteristics such as strain characteristics under DC voltage, temperature dependence, load characteristics and durability under repetitious DC voltage application were investigated in the (Pb_<0.845>-Sr_<0.05>-Ba_<0.105>) ((Zr_xTi_<1-x>)_<0.95>-Sn_<0.045>-Nb_<0.005>)O_3 series (0.49≤x≤0.55). The piesoelectric characteristics changes markedly owing to the difference in crystal structure. The compositions in the tetragonal phase are superior for actuator applications.
