The ferromagnetic resonance technique has been used to study the asymmetry of the main resonance line in single crystal nickel films prepared under different deposition conditions. All resonance experiments were performed at about 17 GHz, at room temperature. It is demonstrated that in both the perpendicular and parallel configurations, a contribution to the asymmetry comes from certain types of inhomogeneity in the internal field. Magnetic inhomogeneities and both surface and volume structural imperfections are the main sources of the inhomogeneities in the present samples. The origin of these inhomogeneities is discussed.
