Er_1Ba_2Cu_3O_<7-δ> samples were prepared and irradiated with different doses of gamma radiation up to 60 Mrad. The effects of gamma irradiation on Er_1Ba_2Cu_3O_<7-δ> were characterized using electrical resistivity, X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and magnetic susceptibility. It was concluded that there is no effect on gamma irradiation up to 10 Mrad. For higher doses, the gamma irradiation is believed to cause small ion displacements of light atoms, thus decreasing the critical current density of weak links.
