An analytic description of hysteresis curves of single-domain noninteracting uniaxial particles is obtained taking into account forward and backward scattering processes. The curves from the equilibrium state of magnetization always switch at zero coercivity; those of nonequilibrium states of magnetization exhibit properties that bear good resemblance to the experimentally observed features of the temperature-, activation-volume and sweep-rate-dependent measurement of coercivities, increasing with the sweep rate and decreasing with temperature. Possible extension of the present theory is indicated.
