The ionization efficiency curve of Zn by electron impact has been measured from the threshold energy to 12.7 eV. An energy resolution of 0.05 eV has been obtained by applying an inverse convolution method. Many structures due to autoionization have been found on the efficiency curve. The energy values of the structures are compared with the optically determined or calculated values for the excited levels. In addition to the structures which arise from the 3d^94s^24p configuration, the presence of structures due to the 3d^<10>4p^2 configuration is confirmed. A peak-like structure at about 11.4 eV is tentatively assigned to autoionization through the negative ion state of zinc.
