A one-arc goniometer head has been designed for a neutron diffraction experiment using a heavy cryostat. This is easily accomplished with the one-arc goniometer head as the mechanical construction is considerably simpler than the conventional two-arc system. The practical application to diffractometer experiments has been found to be very simple.
