Taking account of the light modulator construction with 45°Z cut KDP and its isomorphs, following experiments were done. (i) As the degree of polarization P=(I_<max>-I_<min>)/(I_<max>+I_<min>) was varied by the accuracy of the [110] faces parallelism θ, the dependence of P on the modulation degree m was measured. Here, I_<max> and I_<min> are a maximum value and a miniunum value of the intensity, respectively. (ii) The dependence of (l/d) on the modulation degree m were measured. Here, l and d are the thickness along the light path direction of the crystal and the field direction, respectively. From the results it was found that the obtained modulation degree was proportional to (P(l/d)) at constant applied voltage.
