Single crystal films of NiFe_2O_4, CoFe_2O_4 and FeFe_2O_4 were prepared epitaxially by decomposing the respective metal halides with water vapor onthe cleaved (100) surface of MgO crystal. The thickness of the film was varied over the range from several μ to about 100μ by changing experimental conditions. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the films were of spinel structure and the crystal axis was always parallel to that of MgO substrate. Ferromagnetic resonance measurement and chemical analysis of NiFe_2O_4 film suggested a slightly uneven distribution of the components along the derection perpendicular to the substrate surface.
