In this paper, Walker's magnetostatic approximation is justified in its application to ferrimagnetic dispersive properties. First, the size effect of the resonant frequency is discussed for a normally magnetized disk, and second the size dependence of the dispersion relation for a rectangular rod magnetized transversely is treated. It is concluded that Walker's approach is valid over a considerable wavelength range for sufficiently large wave number or for a very small sample. Finally, it is shown that Walker's equation for a transversely magnetized circular cylinder is obtained by application of the magnetostatic condition to Maxwell's equation.
