The field emission current instability of various planes of tungsten has been measured in the "ever-decreasing" current region. It is found that there are single maxima in ΔI_<p-p>(peak to peak amplitude of current instability below 100 Hz) for the (310), (100) and (110) planes, while double maxima are present for the (111) plane. The results of flash desorption experiments for hydrogen adsorption on tungsten are compared with the present results.
