A Semi-Empirical Force-Constant Model for Tetrahedrally-Bonded Semiconductors

A simple force-constant model for tetrahedrally-bonded semiconductors has been arrived at using physical parameters E_h and C, covalent and ionic energy gaps as defined by Phillips and van Vechten in their quantum-dielectric theory. Such parameters have already been proved to be successful in describing many physical properties of such crystals. The present study shows another application. The model is used to find out the reststrahls of unstudied compounds of tetrahedrally-bonded semiconductors.
