• The magnetic anisotropy constants K_1 and K_2 for gadolinium and cobalt are discussed based on the equations derived by Yang for hexagonal ferromagnetic crystals. The agreement between theoretical expressions and experimental data for both gadolinium and cobalt is reasonably good.
