By using a 6328 Å He-Ne laser in an axial magnetic field, the mode pattern variation with mirror separation, L, between 1.5 and 7.0 m was studied. For L longer than 5 m, new stabilized mode patterns were observed, in which every third or fourth resonator modes oscillate strongly and the others are almost suppressed. To illustrate these patterns, the relation previously obtained for the mode stabilization in shorter resonator cases is generalized to the form, Δv≌n・(N・Δf)/2, where Δv and Δf are the Zeeman splitting and the adjacent mode separation, respectively, and n is an odd number. Newly observed patterns arc specified by N=3 or N=4, while the alternately strong and weak pattern in the shorter resonator cases corresponds to N=2. The mode interaction scheme previously proposed for the alternate pattern is applicable to the longer resonator cases.
