The temperature effect on the cut-off frequency of the electrohydrodynamic instability was studied, using nematic liquids doped with an organic electrolyte in different concentrations. The effect was reasonably explained by taking into account the temperature dependence of conductivity of the nematic liquid. From this result, a formula for evaluation of the lower operating-temperature limit T_l at fixed excitation-frequency f_o in a dynamic-scattering display device was derived : T_l={(k/E) In (f_<c,r>/f_o)+1/T_r}^<-1>, where E and f_<c,r> are the activation energy for conduction and the cut-off frequency of the dynamic scattering at room temperature T_r of a nematic liquid, respectively, and k is the Boltzmann constant.
