Stages of the vapor-phase epitaxial growth of trigonal selenium crystal film on the (101^^-0) cleavage face of Te crystal were investigated, using scanning electron microscopy and electron diffraction for pure and Te doped selenium. The latter yields crystallites oriented along the Te [0001] axis at early stages at a lower evaporant temperature, and the epitaxial crystalline film with better crystalinity in comparison with those of the former. Tellurium doped in selenium seems to reduce the surface energy of selenium crystal and enhance diffusion of selenium.
