The problem of diffraction by a defocused circular aperture in partially space coherent light is examined theoretically. It is shown that in certain cases the aberrant images can be improved with the help of an amplitude filter. Central intensity distribution is compared with and without filter. Results are evaluated for two important forms of correlation function across the aperture under the usual assumptions of source monochromaticicity and spatial stationarity. Results are plotted and discussed.
