• The effect of heterogeneity of a conducting fluid on the performance of a liquid metal generator is considered. The results of the investigation show that the density stratification increases the electrical efficiency as well as the output power of the generator for a given aspect ratio. The results are compared with the performance of a generator using homogeneous fluid.
