The active thrust on retaining walls in seismic conditions can be evaluated using the method of Mononobe and Okabe. In this approach, Arango proposed considering a modified thrust wedge, in order to use the analytical solution obtained by Mueller-Breslau. The same result can be achieved, in a more general and simple form, by modifying the shear strength angle of the soil, the friction angle between soil and wall and the soil unit weight.
