A replica type operator training simulator was developed for a coal fired fossil power plant. This system simulates the computerized central control board and the related auxiliary panels in the central control room by means of three sets of process computers. The system, replicating a referenced plant not only for the appearance of its panels but also for their response to operator's manipulation, is a useful tool for operator training. The simulation models are constructed based on the physical laws and this results in accurate responses to extensive malfunctions. The system realizes a real time response even in the case of large scale plant trips by means of a high speed processing oriented software architecture.
