We have developed Osaka University Regional Socioeconomic Simulaiton Model (referred to as OURS model) for the Kansai region in Japan. Various simulation results of the model are stored in a Regional Statistical Data Base. The amount of collected socioeconomic regional statistical data are so large, and the causal relations among the socioeconomic variables of the model are so complicated that we have to make a great effort and spend a lot of time to investigate the simulation results and understand the main causes of their changes. This paper describes an analyses explanation support system which can define and generate proper explanatory statement fitted in with the characterisics of the change of the simulation results. This system is used in analysing the causes of the changes and the main causes for socioeconomic variables based on hierarchical structure of the model, and in explaining the analysed results by determining the used statement patterns and their used condition. There is a regional knowledge base in the system, which stores the model structure knowledge and experience knowledge of the expert in this field. It has been confirmed that the simulation results can be analysed and explained easily for common users through applying to the OURS model.
