• Information technology makes it possible the solution of complicated engineering problems by taking into account realistic mathematical modelling of soil behaviour. Students should be therefore introduced to a better knowledge and understanding of soil behaviour, deeper insight in constitutive modeling, appreciation of the limitations involved in the numerical procedures and critical evaluation of the results of numerical analyses, as opposed to the experimental evidence of the prototype structures.
