The construction of the reinforced embankment using the stabilized crushed stones in Hyogo prefecture is described in this paper. The new construction method stabilizes the crushed stones from the cutting slope by mixing them with cement and water and stirring the mixture by a rotary bucket. The stabilized crushed stones are compacted in the held and used as the backtilling material. Then the reinforcing steel is placed between the compaction layers, and the soil mortar is filled in the gap behind the light-weight retaining wall. By using this method, the amount of the cutting crushed stones can be reduced and reused up to 90%.
