Vortical structure changing by the life cycles of the horizontal vortices (extratropical cyclones) are investigated with various satellite images and meteorological data. From a series of the satellite images taken through the frontgenesis to cyclogenesis, it is recognized that the cyclones are constructed with a number of mesoscale vortices (≧30 km horizontal scales or more large), where arranged along the wave-like front, lived among longitudinal convection in warm sector, gathered around the head of wave-like front to be yield cyclonic circulation. Also in the increasing stage of cyclones, it can be seen many meso-vortices flow into the cyclones. It is understood that 1. the cyclones are a compounded vortices consisted of many meso-vortices because a circulation more than larger meso-vortex is hard to build due to a strong vertical shear in baroclinic atmosphere, 2. cyclonic circulation which will be yielded at the west side of the head of wave-like front do not occur without mesovortices. 3. Extratropical cyclones do not increases without meso-vortices which flow into the cyclones.
