In the previous papers, the author presented theoretical research and experimental study in a low temperature testing laboratory on icing on cylinders perpendicular to, and on plates parallel to, or perpendicular to an air flow. It was assumed that plenty of water droplets supercooled as low as ambient air temperature was always in uniform suspension in the air stream in which they were placed, and that all the latent heat of fusion of ice accreted was removed only due to forced convection. This paper describes some results of the comparison between the growth rate, and the amount of ice accreted on patrol vessels obtaind from icing experiments conducted at sea, by using the vessels and the theoretically-estimated values of the rate and amount of ice, on the basis of the above-mentioned assumption. This regards the main icing areas of the vessels as cylinders perpendicular to, or plates parallel to, or perpendicular to an air stream line. It is indicated, through the results of these studies, taht the growth rate and amount of ice accreted on any vessel, acn be estimated approximately under any ambient air temperature, wind velocity, and duration of icing.
