There are very few investigations on the ventilation of holds and living guarters from the view point of hydrodynamics, while many studies dealing with the forms of ventilation air trunk, ventilator heads and fans have been carried out. The author investigated theoretically and experimentally the current of the air in holds and living quarters to get the best efficient ventilation.In this report, the condition is considered to be two dimensions, as the depth of air space above-the cargo in holds at fully loaded condition is rather shallow and in this case as a conclusion, stream lines and stream velocities can be obtained by hydrodynamical calculation.And it is very profitable to apply the hydrodynamical calculation for the design of the ventilation of ships. In the second report, the condition in three dimensions will be studied.
