This study deals with the phenomenon of interference of plurality of cranes running on single pair of rails. As the order of the situation of each cranes is not changeable, there happens sometimes such moment as that some cranes stay idle in spite of the fact that there is work which needs and waits for cranes. This phenomenon we call "interference".To make the theoretical analysis easier, some assumption are adopted as follows.1. The workshop is rectanglur in shape and there takes place work which demands the operatians of cranes.2. These pieces of work occur at random with regard to the job site and follow the exponential distribution in the time interval against the subsequent work.3. Crane operation are assigned to the earlier work first as much as possille. The time of operation follows the exponential distribution.4. Operations are completed at the same places without moving in the procedure.Analysis is made in the following steps.1st The volume of work by each crane is sought for in a form of function of place.2nd Because of the interference the ability of handling is less than the number of cranes set there. This value is obtained as an expected value and is called "the effective crane number".The effective crane number is exrpessed as a function of the number of cranes equipped N and the total number of pieces of work under operation and in waiting n.3rd Using these value given above, the average of work in a system are acquired by applying the queuing theory of the plural channels with some modification. These are shown in fig. 16 and n^^- in this figure is the value without interference. There is seen that the interference appears more with three cranes than two cranes.Final. Experiment by Monte-Carlo method is undertaken and verify the theory.As the operation of crane may be accompanied by the movement of some distance in the actual state, the phenomenon of much greater interference is thought to appear. We are planning now to study about these cases in the next issue.
