In the field of civil engineering modern developments of reinforced concrete structures have presented many problems in the theory of elasticity and brought forth A. Pucher's theory of influence surfaces of plates. His theory has been taking a more and more important role in the design of bridge floor slabs.The application of influence surfaces is not necessarily limited in the field of civil engineering, but the successful application will be expected to the structures composed of plates such as ship's hulls.This is the extension of A. Pucher's theory to the case of orthotropic plates. Green's functions for deflection, moments, and shearing forces of an infinite plate strip are mostly derived in closed form with the numerical discussion of stress singularities.
