This paper deals with some improvements of hull structure which have been applied, with the approval of classification societies, to the ships built in the authors' shipyard for the purpose of saving materials and labors. They are as follows: 1. Bracket built up with plate inserted between the splitted web and flange of angle, in place of ordinary flanged-plate bracket. 2. Rolled I-bar used for hatch shifting beam, web frame in engine room or hold, and pillar in engine room. 3. Straight rudder stock of two-pintle rudder in place of curved stock. 4. Gunwale flat bar in place of angle. 5. On-deck girder and raised deck. 6. Transverse framing for the construction of engine room bottom in combination with longitudinal framing in hold double bottom. 7. Widely spaced pillar serving for hold ladder.
