This paper shows how the information about the fatigue crack propagation can be obtained by the test under controlled stress intensity factor and discusses the significance of such data. A new testing method was proposed to control the testing machine during the propagation of the crack based on the approximate evaluation of the stress intensity factor. The dependence of the growth rate on stress intensity factor was confirmed.
