A method of calculating the wave induced pressure on the surface of an elongated body fixed horizontally in head sea waves is presented. Numerical results are given for the case of semicircular cross section and compared with measured results. Comparison is made also with the calculations by other theories such as the strip method and Faltinsen's theory. A consistent agreement with the experiments is obtained by the present method.
