Cast or forged members may contain various types of flaws such as round-shaped macro flaws, isolated small flaws, clustered small flaws and macro cracks. While fatigue strength of cracked materials can be estimated by fracture mechanics, a fatigue strength evaluation method of flaws other than crack had not been developed. In this paper, the fracture mechanics approach was used to evaluate the fatigue strength of materials with flaws other than crack, and an evaluation method using "intrinsic crack model" was proposed. Some experiments were conducted to verify the applicability of the evaluation method proposed.
