The present paper describes a method of velocity measurement using digital flow images and laser speckle photography. Two visualized flow images taken in small time difference are transformed to spatial frequency domains by two-dimensional Fourier Transform and the velocity vector is determined on the domain. The method is applied to the flow field measurement around a circular cylinder. A high-pass filter in the spatial frequency domain is effective for the analysis. LSP (Laser Speckle Photography) is also investigated. Rotating speed of disk is measured using a double pulsed ruby laser. PIV (Particle Imaging Velocimetry), one of the modified method of LSP, is applied to measure a laminar boundary layer flow. The PIV technique is simulated by the digital flow images on the computer. The possibility of turbulence measurement is also examined.
