4. On the Hydrodynamic Forces and Moments Acting on an Arbitrary Floating Body with a Constant Forward Speed

In this paper, a calculation method to solve the diffraction and radiation problems for an arbitrary shaped floating body with a constant forward speed is proposed, in which the singularities satisfying the linear free surface condition are distributed on body surface. Numerical results of some hydrodynamic characteristics for a half submerged elliptical body with constant forward speeds by the present method are compared with both the experimental values and ones by the strip method. The results calculated by the present method have much better agreements with the values obtained by experiments than ones predicted by the strip method.
