To know the influence of the various thickness of agar duplicating material for refractory to dimensional change, and also to know the influence of various amounts of setting expansion of phosphate bonded investment to dimensional accuracy, this study was investigated. In the condition of using no hygroscopic expansion impression material (polysulfide rubber base), refractory models were made, and the dimensional changes of those were measured, the following conclusions were obtained. 1. In the condition of 2mm thickness of agar duplicating impression material, despite of using either refractory model investment, the amount of setting expansion were under necessary value, and the dimension of the refractory model were unstable. In the 5 mm, less deformation of refractory models were observed. In the above 10 mm, the arc-shaped and concave deformation due to the lateral thrust of ridge bulk were observed. 2. In the condition of rubber base impression material, in above 5mm thickness, the less difference of dimensional change were observed, and comparatively stable refractory models were obtained. 3. The amount of deformation of refractory models was not due to the thickness of duplicating impression material, but also the amount of setting expansion of refractory model investment.
