The vertical field to be applied externally on tokamak plasma to achieve its equilibrium is shown to be dependent on the ellipticity of the column cross-section. (This effect suggests that the vertical field in stellarator should be modulated slightly according to the variation of ellipticity along the circular magnetic axis.) It is also shown that the radial distribution of plasma pressure is closely related to that of toroidal current for the equilibrium. When the former profile is expressed by p = p_o (1 - ρ^2/α^2)^ r and that of the latter by j = j_o (1 - ρ^2/ α2) ^α, then the equilibrium condition is written approximately by α = γ +1 and γ > 2, where α is plasma column radius and ρ is radial distance from the magnetic axis.
