Chaotic Properties of the Electron Temperature Fluctuations at the Center of TEXTOR Tokamak Plasmas during Sawtooth Activity

The Lyapunov exponents of the reconstructed attractors from time series of the electron temperature fluctuations observed at the center of TEXTOR Tokamak plasmas during sawtooth activity have been estimated. Some of the maximum Lyapunov exponents are about 2×10^3 sec^<-1> and positive. The correlation dimensions are also calculated to be ν〜2.6±0.1. Judging from the results some of irregular fluctuations on the electron temperature signals are chaotic. The upper bound of the K-S (Kolmogorov-Sinai)entropy is estimated to be 4×10^3 sec^<-1>.
