Recently, environmental problems like dioxins (DXN's) especially from incinerators of municipal solid waste (MSW) are increased. The melting process to reduce the volume of the incinerated ash and to make the harmless and recyclable has been developed using air plasmas. The type of plasma torch is transferred and hollow cylindrical copper electrode enables usage of air as plasma gas. Lifetime of electrode in plasma torch is important in the case of continuous operation like incinerating plants. The reduction of collimator diameter in plasma torch to prevent the erosion of copper electrode (rear electrode) achieves remarkable prolongation of its lifetime.
