1. Male rats were tested for the acute oral toxicity for dieldrin on the 10th day after birth and on every 10th days thereafter until the 60th day. The younger the animal, the more were they susceptible. The new-born ones were about nine or ten times more susceptible than the grown up. 2. The subchronic feeding tests for rats for 18 weeks revealed that at a level of 20 mg/kg/day the slight inhibition of growth was noticed after 12 weeks feeding. 3. Macroscopic and microscopic changes were found at higher levels, but at 1 mg/kg/day level the findings were almost similar to the control, i.e. non-dieldrin fed group. 4. The concentration of dieldrin in organs and tissue were analysed by the bioassay method devised by the author. The accumulation of dieldrin during the course of feeding experiment was marked, particulaly in the brain and the skin at levels over 5 mg/kg/day dose. But in the group of 1 mg/kg/day feeding, no significant increase of dielrinwas found except slight increase in the abdominal skin, as judged by the date at the middle and the last period of experiment. It appeared, therefore, the absorption and the excretion of dieldrin was balanced as this dose level.
