The authors have previously made a report on the use of float film of polynite foams to be spread over the surface of an acid solution as a preventive means against acid corrosion of teeth. In the present study, an acid inhibitory drug "R" found to be effective in inhibiting the generation of hydrogen gas has been employed in connection with the above float film. The result is quite satisfactory. To reproduce actual conditions, three kinds of acids (20% hydrochloric acid, 20% sulphuric acid and a mixture of sulphuric, nitric and hydrochloric acids) were prepared. The quantity of acid in the atmosphere when no treatment had been done was highest in the case of the mixture i.e. 59.889 mg/l, that of 20% hydrochloric acid was 6.2% of the former, and that of 20% sulphuric acid was 1.5%. Under the such conditions, but with addition of 1) 5% "R", 2) float film of polynite foams, and 3) combination of "R" and float film were tried with a finding that the third was the most effective in suppressing. And in the last case quantities of acid in the air was reduced to 21.8% of that of untreated case in the 20% hydrochloric acid, to 40.6% in the 20% sulphuric acid, and to 23.3% in the mixture.
