An ideal management & production informationVisual or Video Display Terminal (VDT) is an apparatus that displays output from a computer on a cathode-ray tube (CRT), which is similar to a TV screen. Specific computer terminals of this kind, called VDT in general, are used for wordprocessors, office computers, computer aided design (CAD) and the like. Nowdays, almost all office worders are obliged to use VDTs to work efficiently. The increase in the use of computers has turned many office workers into frequent typists or computer operators. These VDT users are at great risk of occupational diseases resulting from VDTs or their operations. The fatigue caused by repetitive movements cannot be recovered by sleep and rest, and may be accumulated. Screen glare from VDTs can cause eye strain and headaches. Static electricity and dry air can cause dermatitis. There may also be potential health hazards associated with lowfrequency radiation emitted by VDTs. This paper gives a general analysis of the problems existing among the occupational diseases resulting from VDTs or their operations.
