An ideal management & production informationIn 30 years' history of Japanese computer industry, continual emphasis has been placed on the computer state-of-the-art and its cost-performance aspects. This paper introduces a problem-solving approach to business applicable even before development of any computer system, by which the authors wish to solve various managerial problems in getting necessary job information. Computer utilization or office automation in administrative and overhead areas of businessis emphasized. Aimed at reorganizing business under a computer system concept, the paper introduces acomputer-based method of job improvement, that has been developed through authors' experiences in training / consulting services. Discussions are specifically centered around the problem-solving pursuit of management information, by introducing a unique method of "FI ANALYSIS" or Function-Information Analysis.
