An ideal management & production information"Downsizing" gave us some doubts,how will the mainframe system and the Method of System Development (MSD) change in future ? and how must we change inhouse IS division ? At present Client-Sever system is changing to Mainframe system. The MSD so called Waterfall Process (when the specification is fixed at the early stage of Lifecycle, as a principle, it can not be altered ) is being considered inflexible. Alternately, the so-called Object-Oriented MSD is drawing the attention as a flexible method. But adopting the new MSD, there are yet many barrier to overcome. This barrier is (1) how will be the mainframe software resources ? and (2) the MSD using Object-Oriented paradigm is not yet completed. At present "MUSE" (YDC's Know-How) is the only method which can be for actual use. The ideal MSD must consist of Object - Oriented paradigm and the Prototype process, only "MUSE" is approaching to the ideal.
