• The retail information system has emerged in the retail industry based on the POS system with scanning technology. At present market needs and desires are shifting from the legacy system to an open system in order to strengthen firms' competitiveness through category management, ECR, and increasing loyalty to the store. I strongly recommend that systems combining both open platform and the proprietary POS system be introduced at this time.
