The purpose of this research is to clarify transition of the kitchen equipments' height. The method is based, firstly, on a literature survey and the collection of data related to kitchen equipments' heights in magazines, journals, periodicals and books ; following, an analysis of these data took place. According to a women's magazine, "Fujin-no-tomo" (September-1913), it was clarified that the height of worktops was of 2shaku-5sun (75.8cm), 2shaku- 6sun (78.7cm). (First description related to kitchen equipments' height.) Unfortunately, descriptions concerning kitchen equipments' height prior to 1913 have not yet been found within the data collected so far. Therefore, a further survey is made necessary.
