Spermatogonial and primary spermatocyte chromosomes of Anaciaeschna jaspedia and Anax nigrofasciatus nigrolineatus belonging to the Aeschnidae from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, India, have been described and illustrated. The former species possess the chromosome number of 2n♂=25, n♂=13, while the latter species reveal 2n♂=27, n♂=14 with XO sex determining mechanism. The diploid number in both the species include a pair of m chromosomes. The sex elements are the smallest during the spermatogenetic cycle. Anaciaeschna is new to cyiology, while Anax nigrofasciatus nigrolineatus shows variation in diploid number reported earlier from the same locality.
