Treatment with DC (6 μA plant^<-1>) increased uptake and translocation of ^<36>Cl^- ions, both to the leaves and to the stems of 15-d-old Chenopodium rubrum plants. In leaves the distribution of these ions remained unchanged in comparison with untreated controls, however, in stems a decreasing gradient from the shoot apex to the base of both ions was formed as a consequence of DC treatment. Neither uptake nor distribution of ^<14>C-sucrose and ^<14>C-labelled assimilates were affected by DC treatment.
