Comparison of some properties of alkaline phosphatase excreted by the mold Neurospora crassa and purified to apparent homogeneity by PAGE revealed that the preg^c strain excretes distinct molecular forms of this enzyme as a function of variations in extracellular P_i concentration, suggesting that this mutant strain is still sensing P_i levels.
