• Nitrate reductase (NR) was assayed in vivo in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz). Activity in the leaves ranged from 0 to 2.51 μmole of NO_3^- reduced g^<-1> h^<-1> with no activity in the younger leaves (leaf 1 on top). NR activity was localized in the sides and toward the tip of the lobes of the leaf.
