The effect of tribenzylphosphate on the activity of the phosphate translocator of intact pea chloroplasts was tested. The translocator activity was followed by O_2 evolution ^<14>CO_2 fixation and ^<32>P back-exchange. The reagent inhibited 3-phosphoglycerate dependent-photosynthetic activities probably through an interaction with the PGA translocator.
