In order to investigate the mechanisms of gibberellic acid action, we have studied the effect of GA_3 on the activities of the various components necessary for protein biosynthesis. The activities of ribosome and elongation factors EF-1 and EF-2 essential for protein biosynthesis were stimulated strikingly by GA_3. Therefore, it can be concluded that whatever effects GA_3 may have on transcription, the hormone controls the gene expression even at the translational level.
